Born in Pistoia in 1923. After the war, he began his profession as a designer, dealing with industrial design, publishing and graphics. In 1965 he became editor of the architecture magazine “Casabella”.

In 1966 he created the famous poster for the exhibition of Lucio Fontana and also the coordinated image of the Venice Biennale. He creates a series of “Forma Zero” suitcases for Valextra and the “Serie ’64” furniture. He taught for over twenty years at the Istituto Statale d’Arte in Monza.

He participated in numerous exhibitions in Italy and abroad, winning coveted awards such as in Warsaw, Brno, Leipzig and in 1992 the Lifetime Achievement Award in Zagreb.

Many of his projects are present in the collections of numerous museums around the world: Bibiliotthèque National (Paris), Musée cantonal des beaux arts (Lausanne), Deutsches Bucherei (Leipzig), Deutsches Plakat Museum (Essen), Museum Narodowe (Warsaw), Moravska galerie (Brno), Stedelijk Museum (Amsterdam), Museum of Modern Art (New York), Royal Ontario Museum (Toronto). He continued his teaching activity in the international “workshop” of specialization in Milan.
