LOCATELLI
1 Logos and restyling over time
Dairy company founded by Mattia Locatelli in the early twentieth century in Lecco (Como) and specialized in the production of Gorgonzola and Reggiano; the first logos were affected by the “floral” style with doodles and coats of arms linked to sector awards.
In the early 1960s the company presented itself with a reassuring calligraphic logo inscribed in a rectangular frame with rounded edges. In the years of the economic boom, he presented a logo consisting of the capitalized name, inserted inside a red shape.
In 1974 Gio Rossi made a minor change by inserting the name inside an oval. In 1982 the same author placed a rosette around the logo, made positive, as a distinctive sign of merit and, in 1985, made it completely red. To underline the new social status, that is to be part of the French multinational Lactalis, a communication campaign was prepared where the restyling of the logo and the packaging played an important part.
The new logo, designed in 1999 by the Gio Rossi Associati agency, proclaims itself to be more modern and legible thanks to the lettering used; even the colors green, red and white confirm the Italian character of the production. The cockade, a certificate of awards received by the product for its intrinsic qualities, has been updated and dynamized. In 2019 the Locatelli brand was acquired by the Auricchio group to exclusively distribute the best traditional Italian cheeses in the United States.
