Company of the Eni group founded in 1955, world leader in drilling, engineering, construction and installation services for pipelines and large plants; it played a vital role in Italy’s post-World War II economic boom. The acronym derives from the wording “Italian share company drilling and assembly”, in turn the result of the merger of the drilling company “SAIP” and the construction company “Snam Montaggi”. The first logo was formed with the letters of the alphabet of the AGIP logo.

In the following years the logo has always adopted, as a sign of belonging, both the six-legged dog and the institutional lettering as in the years 1974, 2002 and 2010. The volatility of the oil price and the political instability of some of the most important producing countries have led Saipem to open up to new markets, that of renewable energies, and to a more general corporate transformation.

From the separation from ENI and on the occasion of the 60th anniversary, in 2015 he decided to build an independent brand identity. The new logo, designed by Interbrand, has retired the six-legged dog: a large blue letter “S” with an oblique orange line and the logo in capital letters. Petroleum blue recalls the depths of the sea, orange its link with the world of energy.
