Sisal (partial acronym of “Sport Italia A Limited Liability Company) was founded in 1945 as the exclusive manager of bets on football matches through the card of the same name, which later became Totocalcio. It was born from the idea of the sports journalist Massimo Della Pergola with Fabio Jegher and Geo Molo, who invented the first prediction competition; with the proceeds from the coupons they contributed to the reconstruction of the stadiums destroyed by the war.

The first logo of 1946 reproduced the lucky symbol of the magnet with “Sport Italia” in capital letters, white on a black background; inside a net with a soccer ball and, further down, three squares with the three symbols “1 X 2” and the word Sisal. This logo coexisted, in the absence of corporate identity rules, with the writing “Sport Italia” in a calligraphic style typical of the time; this logo was the headline of the official journalistic organ of the coupon and also present on all official documents of those years.

In 1948 the Totip was launched, the competition dedicated to horse racing; the relative logo, as well as for football, had a jockey on horseback inside. In those years, communication was also entrusted only to the acronym Sisal with the same calligraphic style.

After almost 50 years the logo needed restyling to keep up with the times and, in 1998, the Armando Testa agency was entrusted: the logo was composed of white capital letters, deformation of the Hevetica black stick font, to the inside of a green rectangle. A rough oblique line was the reference to the curvature of the “Sport Italia” writing.

In 2008 another restyling by the Robilant Associati agency with the identification of the star as a symbolic reference, formed by elements of two shades of green and another smaller red while the logo was composed with a rounded, inclined font; in some cases it was used in the negative in order to highlight the Italian tricolor, albeit with the colors reversed.

To interpret the new company that can offer its customers a complete range of games and entertainment, and to make people’s lives more fun in a responsible and sustainable way, in 2013 Sisal entrusted the restyling of the logo to the Landor agency. The colors are revised, the star reset and the font replaced, now no longer skewed; the Sisal star was the starting point to create a dynamic, versatile and colorful “look & feel” system, based on the concept of irradiation.
